California-based equipment manufacturer acquires french fry processor

Food industry equipment manufacturer Heat and Control has acquired an England-based processor which provides custom solutions for products including french fries.

Established in 2013, Fabcon Food Systems, based in Norwich, England, offers solutions for the snack food, french fry and protein industries, including processing, product handling, sorting, precision flavoring, and weighing and packing systems.

In April, California-headquartered Heat and Control acquired two companies based in the United Kingdom: thermal processing provider Tek-Dry Systems and heat transfer equipment manufacturer Hunt Heat Exchangers.

“Fabcon Food Systems manufactures a broad range of innovative, reliable and cost-effective food processing solutions for the snack food, french fry and protein industries that complement our existing range of products, including a full range of vibratory conveyors, allowing us to deliver even more innovative solutions to our global customers,” Tony Caridis, president of Heat and Control, said in a news release.

The acquisition also gives Heat and Control access to a European manufacturing facility and Fabcon’s technical team, Caridis said.

“Fabcon Food Systems recognize the importance of consistently exceeding the expectations of our customers, partners, suppliers and employees and is excited by the opportunities that our association with Heat and Control will provide,” Trevor Howard, Fabcon Food Systems managing director, said. “This new venture will facilitate expansion into new regions as well as ensuring the continued delivery of innovative and reliable solutions.”
