Aug 16, 2023Duravant acquires automated parcel sortation systems manufacturer
Global engineered equipment and automation company Duravant has acquired a Texas-headquartered manufacturer of automated parcel sortation systems.
National Presort LP (NPI) has manufactured modular, high-speed sortation systems for industries including e-commerce, courier, parcel post, warehouse and fulfillment operations for more than 45 years, according to a news release. Its sorting equipment features a sliding shoe and slat design and is engineered to precisely sort flats, poly bags, boxes, irregularly shaped parcels and mixed mail at speeds of up to 24,000 pieces per hour, according to the release.
“We are excited to welcome NPI to Duravant,” Mike Kachmer, Duravant CEO and chair, said in the release. “The addition of their unique sortation technology to our material handling portfolio complements our strong position in e-commerce and distribution centers and greatly extends our reach with parcel and courier customers.”
Headquartered in Downers Grove, Illinois, Duravant serves the food processing, packaging and material handling sectors with manufacturing, sales and service facilities throughout North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
“NPI has experienced tremendous growth, and now our partnership with Duravant greatly enhances our ability to deliver even more value-added solutions to our expanding customer base,” Brent Daboub, NPI president, said. “We’re excited to leverage new resources available to us and collaborate with our colleagues at FMH Conveyors and other Duravant operating companies.”
NPI has two U.S. manufacturing sites and a nationwide fleet of service technicians.
“NPI has established itself as an innovative leader in material handling automation, and we look forward to supporting their continued growth into new markets and regions,” Raman Joshi, group president of Duravant Material Handing Solutions, said. “NPI is far more than a strategic fit. Their customer-focused culture is in perfect alignment with Duravant’s core values.”
PPM Technologies joins Duravant portfolio
Duravant also acquired PPM Technologies, an Oregon-headquartered manufacturer of conveying, coating and thermal equipment, from Stonehenge Partners last month.
PPM designs, engineers and manufacturers processing solutions for markets including snack foods, confectionary, cereals, nutraceuticals, nuts and seeds, vegetables, meats, poultry, and seafood. Its automation products and technologies complement those of Key Technology, a sorting and food handling leader and member of the Duravant family of operating companies, according to a news release.
“PPM is an ideal complement to our existing suite of products in our food processing and handling equipment portfolio,” Kachmer said in the release. “Our new partnership with PPM bolsters our integration services capabilities which are in high demand as customers are increasingly relying on our applications and design expertise to deliver complete turnkey lines.”
PPM, with more than 70 years of experience in designing and manufacturing conveyors and graders, serves more than 50 countries and has two U.S. manufacturing sites.
“We are very excited as we look ahead at our next phase of growth with Duravant,” Robert Pedersen, PPM president, said. “PPM is a perfect complement to Key Technology, and our new partnership will enable us to collaborate on innovation, new product development and strategic growth initiatives, including accelerating our expansion in Europe and Latin America.”
