Crop condition better than 5-year average in Minnesota, North Dakota

Potato harvesting in North Dakota has begun, while harvesting is well underway in Minnesota. In both states, crop condition is better than the five-year average.

In Minnesota, 28% of the crop is in excellent condition, while 69% is in good condition, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). Three percent is in fair condition, with no percentage listed as poor or very poor.

In North Dakota, 16% is listed in excellent condition, 68% in good and 15% in fair. One percent of the crop is in poor condition.

The Minnesota crop is 22% harvested, ahead of the five-year average of 18%, according to NASS. In North Dakota, 3% is harvested, close to the five-year average.
