Canadian potato producer EarthFresh Farms adding Atlanta packing facility

EarthFresh Farms, an Ontario-based farming operation, is expanding to the U.S. with a 140,000-square-foot advanced technological packing plant in the Atlanta area.

EarthFresh produces potatoes, carrots and onions for foodservice and retailers. Currently, the farm packs and ships from its Burlington, Ontario facility. Atlanta was chosen as a site for expansion because of “ease of access, customer service, speed to market, availability of skilled workers and proximity to rich agricultural regions,” EarthFresh said via a press release.

“This new location perfectly complements our vision and plan to provide fresh potatoes to our retailers and consumers,” said Tom Hughes, CEO, EarthFresh Farms. “The addition of this new location will allow us to keep expanding our base of business and target new customers.”

The EarthFresh Atlanta facility will employ over 100 people when fully operational in September 2019. It will be located in the College Park, just south of Atlanta.

EarthFresh grows and delivers more than 10,000 acres of fresh potatoes to retailers and foodservice providers across U.S. and Canada. The company sources products from 38 states and nine Canadian provinces. It is involved in all aspects of potato production, including breeding, seed production, packing and shipping.

EarthFresh also produces Celebratoes, a line of microwaveable potatoes that come in various flavors.
