Miller Research hosts potato pest management seminar

Miller Research started in 1975 at its Rupert, Idaho location and is perhaps the oldest private research business in agriculture in the U.S. With farms in nearby Minidoka and Acequia, Miller Research has worked with hundreds of companies, many of which have gone or have merged. They have also worked with different universities through the years, as explained in this video.

At Miller Research, the goal is to provide the most sound and unbiased information. “When we go out to do a research trial, we try and call it exactly the way we see it, and we hope that provides benefit to you,” said Miller Research President and CEO Jeff Miller, during his opening remarks at the company’s 2017 Potato Pest Management Seminar. “Much of our work is focused on efficacy. We test different products to see how they will work and we do this for both fertilizers and pesticides.”

Research trials are also focused on determining residue levels when different products are used at their high label rates, or at levels growers would not typically use. These harvested crops are then sent to a third-party lab and they are then tested to detect chemical levels on finished products like french fries or hash browns. A lot of the information Miller Research produces is publicly available, and these reports are found at MillerResearch.com.
