The role of Envita® in advancing sustainability

(Sponsored) Farmers are increasingly adopting sustainable practices to improve their profitability and crop management strategies. From planting cover crops and optimizing water usage to implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, growers are discovering innovative ways to reduce their environmental footprint.

Envita®, a revolutionary product from Azotic, is emerging as a game-changer for growers. Designed to support a wide range of crops, including potatoes, Envita provides a cost-effective and sustainable complement to synthetic fertilizers. This innovative solution helps growers achieve their own sustainability goals, aligning with the environmental objectives set by processors and end users.

Tom Tregunno, global business development at Azotic, highlights the significant benefits Envita offers to potato growers.

According to Tregunno, thus far, potatoes have the highest return on investment — with a yield increase averaging thirty-five hundredweight per acre.

“You’d be applying Envita on your potato crop and providing another form of nitrogen that’s available that growing season — ultimately helping with quality, fill and tonnage,” Tregunno said.

How Envita Works

According to Azotic, after application, Envita inoculates plant cells, “creating a symbiotic relationship between the host and the bacteria, allowing almost any crop to fix its own nitrogen and boost yields while relying less on traditional nitrogen fertilizer.”

As defined by Azotic, “Envita is a naturally occurring, food-grade bacteria — Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus — originally discovered in sugarcane. It forms a symbiotic bond with the host plant, delivering nitrogen from inside plant cells above and below the ground for the entire growing season.”

“We’ve tested Envita on multiple varieties and are checking all the marks in terms of specific gravity and sizing. It’s all meeting the expectations and is very promising in terms of tonnage and consistent yield gains,” Tregunno said.

In 2025, Azotic is offering a new formulation of Envita — a dry formulation. The dry formulation is easy to handle, mixes well and has a multiple-year shelf life, according to Tregunno.

Why Growers Choose Envita

By integrating Envita into their operations, growers can address key challenges while improving efficiency and sustainability. The benefits are clear:

  • Enhanced Marketable Yields: Envita helps maximize the percentage of crops that meet processor standards.
  • Flexible Application: Designed for ease of use, Envita can be seamlessly integrated into existing farming practices and has multiple opportunities for application.
  • Custom Fit for Every Farm: Whether large or small, farms can tailor Envita to meet their unique needs.
  • Season-Long Nitrogen Delivery: Envita ensures consistent nitrogen availability, supporting plant growth from root to shoot.

Making Regenerative Agriculture Accessible

Transitioning to regenerative practices can feel daunting, but Envita simplifies the process by delivering tangible results. Envita supports growers in their journey toward more sustainable and regenerative agriculture by reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers. Growers can expect to protect and increase yield while being more efficient with their fertilizer.
