According to statistics released by USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service on July 12, 2011 total acreage planted in potatoes this year is 1,082,600 acres – up 6 percent nationally from the 2010 total of 1,021,500 acres
The state of Washington showed a 15 percent increase in acres planted this year, going from 135,000 acres in 2010 to 155,000 acres in 2011. Idaho reported an 8 percent increase this year with 320,000 acres compared to 295,000 acres in 2010.
