Late blight was confirmed in southwestern Minidoka County, Idaho, on Aug. 19. It was reported by the Rupert-based Miller Research.
Late blight can spread quickly, especially when thundershowers are present, the report stated. Growers in south-central Idaho should be diligent in inspecting their fields for signs of the pathogen, especially in areas that remain wet for long periods, such as near the center span of pivots, areas of irrigation overlap, along water mainlines and where leaks are and on the western side of tree or hedgerows where shadows remain during morning dew periods.

Late blight also has been confirmed in Washington, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania so far this summer.
