Apr 12, 2011MANA Crop Protection acquires Karmex, Direx
Makhteshim Agan of North America has announced a recent agreement between its parent company Makhteshim Agan Industries Ltd. and DuPont Crop Protection in which MANA acquires the nonmixture diuron assets from DuPont, including Karmex and Direx herbicides. These herbicide brands are used throughout the U.S. on crops ranging from cotton and citrus to alfalfa, tree nuts and fruits to vegetables and grains.
Karmex and Direx are premium brands offering selective control of broadleaf weeds and grasses. These brands can be used pre- and post-emergence and as a burn down or a lay by. Both brands provide a key, low-cost, effective solution to glyphosate resistant weeds along with the foundational weed control growers count on.
The acquisition of Karmex and Direx make a great addition to the MANA crop protection portfolio, the most comprehensive and diverse portfolio in the crop protection industry,” said David Downing, MANA senior marketing manager for herbicides. “The acquisition of Karmex and Direx is an important step in our strategy to focus on and grow our crop protection business. Producers look to us to provide the right chemistry for the control of weeds, glyphosate resistant or not.”
As part of the global acquisition, Makhteshim-Agan Industries receives all rights, registrations and supporting regulatory data, including trademark rights of the Direx and Karmex diuron assets, making MANA the major supplier for all non-mixture diuron formulations in the U.S.
