Hickman re-elected to lead Potatoes USA Finance Committee

Phil Hickman of Horntown, Virginia, was re-elected to the Potatoes USA Executive Committee on March 17, at the organization’s 44th Annual Meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He will be serving his second year on the board and his second year on its Executive Committee. He previously served six years on the board during 2003-2009 and served on the board’s Administrative Committee as a member of its Domestic Marketing Committee 2006-2009.

At Dublin Farms, Hickman grows Envol, Red Norland, Yukon Gold, Superior, and Dark Red Norland potato varieties for table-stock. Snap beans, field corn, wheat and soybeans are grown as rotation crops. Hickman started Dublin Farms with his brother, David, and today, his son, Phillip, and his nephews, Matt and Mark, are also employed in the family farming operation.

Over the years, Hickman has served on various community and farm organizations. He served as chairman of the Accomack County Planning Commission from 2006-2014, and served on this commission from 1984-2014. In 2014, he also served as vhairman of Elks Foundation BPOE 1624, and served on its Board of Directors during 2009-2014. Dublin Farms was recently honored as a Virginia Century Farm.

Hickman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics through Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia. He is married to his wife, Sandy, and they have a son, E. Phillip Hickman III. The Hickmans also have two grandchildren. As a family, they enjoy fishing, beach activities and following Virginia Tech football.
