ConAgra announces 2014 sustainable award winners

ConAgra Foods announced the winners of its 2014 Sustainable Development Awards.

The winning entries were: Russellville, Ark., frozen food facility, for climate change and energy efficiency; Lincoln, Neb., snack facility, for conservation and wastewater management; Lamb Weston potato facilities in Hermiston, Ore., and American Falls, Idaho, for solid waste reduction and recycling; the research, quality and innovation team in Omaha, Neb., for sustainable business innovation; and the Lamb Weston potato facilities in Kruiningen and Bergen op Zoom, Netherlands received the award of excellence.

ConAgra initiated the awards program in 1992 to encourage and reward employees to find ways to eliminate waste, save water and reduce energy. Winning teams are awarded a $5,000 grant to apply toward a sustainability-focused community service project.
