Agriculture Minister Disputes Potato Board’s Numbers

Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz is taking issue with the P.E.I. Potato Board’s interpretation of how much money has been paid out for crops ruined by rain last summer.

In October, a $12.4- million compensation plan was announced, cost-shared between the federal and provincial government, to cover losses from heavy rains in August and September that flooded fields. Some crops had to be left in the ground, and more rotted in storage. CBC
