Lindsay introduces FieldNET Advisor irrigation management tool

Lindsay has launched its FieldNET Advisor which works through the FieldNET management platform to automate irrigation scheduling. This system provides growers with continuously updated, science-based irrigation recommendations that can be customized for different fields based on crop type, hybrids and planting dates, Lindsay said.

FieldNET Advisor can track available soil water throughout a field by combining a soil map of the field with the company’s developed crop canopy and root growth models. This tracking is also based on local weather data and applied irrigation history. With this data, a high-resolution map showing the amount of available water can be created for the field.

This new system can also be used to forecast a crop’s future water needs, and help determine when and where the crop yield may decline due to water stress. With this information, FieldNET Advisor can be used to make variable rate irrigation (VRI) recommendations. The system currently supports soybeans and corn – but will soon add other crops, including potatoes, Lindsay said.

For growers who already have FieldNET remote monitoring and control equipment installed on their pivots, FieldNET Advisor requires no additional hardware or sensors, Lindsay said.
