USDA: Small dip in North American potato production

According to the latest numbers from the USDA, 2017 fall potato production for the United States and Canada combined is estimated at 505 million cwt, down 1 percent from the revised 2016 estimate.

The United States fall potato production is estimated at 399 million cwt, down 2 percent from last year. Canada’s potato growers harvested 106 million cwt, up slightly from 2016.

The total area harvested in the U.S. has fallen since 2015.

Canadian harvested acres have also fallen since 2015, albeit only slightly.
