The Paper People paper packaging company receives recyclable recognition

The Paper People has received a “certified recyclable” certificate from Western Michigan University, the company announced through a June 21 press release.

The Elcho, Wisconsin-based company’s new FDA-approved heat sealable paper packaging uses its patent-pending PaperLock sealing technology. PaperLock enables the user to heat-seal paper bags on existing packaging machines without the use of expensive upgrades, plastic coatings, tapes or stickers.

The innovative, first-of-its-kind packaging was initially designed for the produce industry, incorporating wood fiber and paper mesh window options for consumer viewing and product ventilation. In addition, the company is now developing products for the frozen food industry, confectionary industry, health care industry and shipping envelopes.

Mark Resch, product development director for the company, said: “Our patent-pending PaperLock technology will set a new standard for heat sealable paper packaging worldwide. The industry today is still laminating films and plastic coatings to paper which in our view, does not meet the new standard that retailers and consumers are looking for in a recyclable package.”

The Paper People provides packaging with the heat-sealable PaperLock technology in many forms which include: vertical form fill and seal, pre-made bags and stand-up pouches, flow wrap packaging, wicket style bags and overwraps. The packaging is available with up to 10 color flexographic and digital print options.
