Potatoes USA is seeking nominations to fill 60 open board member seats for the 2024-2027 term. The nomination process will be completed by Aug. 15.
Nominees are being sought in the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, along with importers.
State potato organizations have received necessary information to begin the nomination of interested growers, according to a news release. Appointed growers will be seated at Potatoes USA’s annual meeting in Denver in March 2024.
Board members should communicate the interests of their production region to the board and deliver the message of the board to their farming community, according to the release.
Other board responsibilities include:
- Attendance at the board’s annual meeting in each year of the three-year term
- Active role in the potato farming community
- Visibility in community work, local government, or cultural or business affairs
- Willingness to represent and communicate with constituents
- Active support of area Potatoes USA programs
- Speaking to grower groups, media and interested parties about Potatoes USA programs
