A potato chip manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania in operation since 1947 will close by the end of 2026.

Layoffs at PA Potato Chip Manufacturing LLC, also known as the Synder of Berlin headquarters, in Somerset County will begin Feb. 13, 2026, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice.

The majority of the plant’s workers will lose their jobs then, with six remaining to assist with shutdown and cleanup.

Utz Brands acquired Synder of Berlin in 2019 before selling the facility to Our Home is 2024.

An Utz spokesperson told broadcast outlet WPXI that the company still owns the Synder of Berlin brand, which will continue despite the facility closure.
