The Oregon potato crop projects to see a significant boon in 2018.
According to estimates released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Northwest Region Field Office, Oregon will produce 28,500,000 hundredweight (cwt), which would be an increase of 33 percent from last year.
Total acreage harvested jumped from 38,900 to 45,000, an increase of 18 percent. The yield-per-acre ratio figures to leap to 620, which would be an increase of 70 per acre and a state record.
Oregon ranked sixth among potato-producing states in 2017.
