Longtime potato industry leader dies at 91

A third-generation potato industry pioneer and former president of Bushwick Commission Co. has died at age 91. Learn more about his legacy

Jack Hyman, former president of Bushwick Commission Co. and a potato industry pioneer, has died at age 91.

Hyman, who died May 4, helped shape the growth and future of Bushwick Commission, a Northeast regional potato supplier and fourth-generation family business with growing and shipping locations along the East Coast.

A third-generation company leader, Hyman and longtime business partner David Gray  strengthened local operations and expanded national distribution, according to a statement from the company.

Hyman was known for his warmth, wit and storytelling, according to the statement. He cultivated long-lasting relationships in the produce industry, imparting wisdom through humor and heartfelt anecdotes.
