Longtime NPGA associate dies at 75

Dennis Anderson, a longtime Northland Potato Growers Association potato associate, died Sept. 27. He was 75.

Anderson worked for agricultural supply and equipment company Agsco in Grafton, North Dakota for 24 years. He served on the board of the NPGA Potato Associate Steering Committee, where he was involved in funding research, purchasing plot machinery and organizing social gatherings.

“I was honored to have known Dennis for many years,” Gary Shields, past committee associate chair, said in a statement from NPGA. “His service to the Northland Potato Growers Association and Northland Potato Associates will never be forgotten.”

Anderson began his career as a high school shop teacher and fifth- and sixth-grade basketball coach. He then went to work at Morton buildings while also running a Weed Badger business.

After retiring from Agsco in 2015, he stayed in touch with the local farming community.

Anderson is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters Christi, Kari and Kellie; and nine grandchildren.
