Fourth-generation potato farmer Larry C. Sackett, 74, died Dec. 11. Born in Sheridan, Michigan, Sackett was raised in McBride.
Fourth-generation potato farmer Larry C. Sackett, 74, died Dec. 11. Born in Sheridan, Michigan, Sackett was raised in the heart of the state’s potato country in McBride.
Sackett served for many years in the National Guard, which he joined in 1968, according to an obituary.

He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church until its closure and then of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
A funeral mass will be held Dec. 17.
“He was a detail-oriented man who was driven by success and advocated for and celebrated the successes of those closest to him,” the obituary read in part.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Rapids Sports Booster, Central Montcalm Sports Booster or the Montcalm County Animal Shelter.
