Celebrate International Women’s Day: Nominate your Spudwoman today

Today, March 8, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) celebrates International Women’s Day and commemorates the achievements of women and girls across the globe.

Investing in women and girls can have tremendous social and economic benefits.

When women and girls have access to education, can earn an income and are empowered to make decisions related to their health, infant deaths decline, nutrition improves, agricultural productivity rises, economies expand and cycles of poverty are broken.

Celebrate International Women’s Day by nominating your spudwomen for the inaugural Spudwoman of the Year Award. The deadline for entries is this coming Friday, March 10.

Nominations are encouraged from all segments of the industry, including growers, shippers, researchers and marketers. Entries may be peer or self-nominated.

One winner will be selected by a panel of highly-esteemed industry judges and presented with the award at the National Potato Council Summer Meeting in Denver, CO on June 29, 2017. The winner also will be featured in the Spudwomen May/June issue of Spudman magazine.
