Organizers of the Ag World Golf Classic fundraiser planned to add a second event this year. Now, due to COVID-19, they’re hopeful just to get in one.

The seventh-year Ronald McDonald Charities fundraiser has traditionally been held in Kennewick, Washington. This year, a second event was scheduled for Moses Lake. They were originally scheduled to take place in early June, but were postponed until mid-August due to COVID concerns.

Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick has canceled all golf tournaments for the month of August, leaving only the Links at Moses Pointe in Moses Lake event, which is still planned for Thursday, Aug. 13.

Melanie Finch of Ag World Support Systems emailed the news July 16.

“We are monitoring the situation and will let you know if anything changes,” she wrote. “Our goal is still to have the agriculture community come together to raise support for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Inland Northwest. As such, we gratefully continue to accept golfers and sponsors. Regardless of what happens, we hope to be able to continue to give a significant amount to the House.”

To date, the Ag World Golf Classic has contributed more than $425,000 to the Ronald McDonald House. The event was started in 2014 by Ag World Support Systems founder Warren Henninger, who died May 23.

“We hope you’ll join us in support of the House and in honor of Warren Henninger’s legacy,” continued Finch, who is Henninger’s daughter.
