The 2012 Census of Agriculture is about to begin. The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service will be sending out census forms in two mailings on December 18 and December 28.
The agriculture census occurs every five years. The census looks at land use and ownership, operator characteristic, production practices, income and expenditures.
All farm and ranch operators should receive a census form in the mail by the first week of January. Completed forms are due by Feb. 4, 2013. Producers can return their forms by mail or can respond to the census online here.
