Gary Mahany, of Arkport, New York, describes why he uses the Decision Support System (DSS) to protect his potato crops from late blight disease. DSS was developed by Cornell University researchers Ian Small and Bill Fry to help potato growers determine when regional weather conditions are optimum for late blight infestation and to aid in fungicide applications to limit the disease’s effects.
