World Potato Congress to convene May 27-30

Researchers from around the world will be participating in the 2012 World Potato Congress in Edinburgh, Scotland, May 27-30.

Held every three years, the World Potato Congress will feature meetings on such topics as seed potato quality, seed certification, business and trade opportunities, sustainability and more. International research scientists will discuss the latest findings on PVY evolution, pathogenicity, epidemiology, control and management.

From the U.S., Nora Olsen of Idaho University will be one of the presenters for a session on potato storage. Albert Wada, director, Wada Farms and WPC Inc., will participate in a program on growing potatoes for maximum return. Sarah Reiter, director of global marketing for AgraQuest, is participating in a presentation on the integration of pesticides and bio-control agents in pest and disease control strategies. Stephanie Race, CEO for Earth Analytics Group, is co-presenting a program on the future of farming and agronomy.

The Congress is described as “a global knowledge exchange enabling those with technical or commercial interests to meet others from around the world to improve their potato enterprise performance.”
