Sid Staunton, of Tulelake, Calif., was elected 2012-13 U.S. Potato Board chairman during the USPB’s annual meeting at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo., March 16.
Board members also approved a .03 per cwt assessment for FY 2013 and changed the proxy voting procedure from directed proxy to blanket proxy. Previously, an absent board member had to execute a proxy for each subject to be voted on by the board. With a blanket proxy, a board member who is unable to attend completes a form granting permission for another to vote on all issues up for consideration.
The 2012 USPB summer meeting will be Aug. 6-9 at the Running Y Ranch in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
