Squeaky Clean Spuds: Contractors Demand Potato Growers Pass Audit

After several recent food-safety scares – including E. coli contamination of California spinach that killed three people and sickened more than 200 – major potato buyers Lamb Weston, McCain Foods and Simplot are requiring growers under contract to complete a government-designed food-safety survey to sell their spuds.
