The Food and Drug Administration has completed its evaluation of J. R. Simplot’s genetically engineered Innate variety potatoes and has concluded that the potatoes are as safe and nutritious as their conventional counterparts” in this press release.
Simplot’s Innate varieties of Russet Burbank, Ranger Russet and Atlantic will be available in limited quantities in 2015 in the fresh and fresh-cut markets.
A second generation of Innate potatoes are currently under review by the USDA and the EPA.
