Oregon potato industry contributes to endowment

The Oregon Potato Commission (OPC) presented a $168,000 check to the Oregon State University (OSU) Foundation to fund an endowment to support a perpetual potato research/Extension endowed professorship at OSU.
The check was presented by OPC representatives including Marty Myers, chairman; Bill Brewer, president and CEO; Dan Chin, Klamath District representative; and Dan Walchli, Hermiston-Blue Mountain District representative. Accepting for OSU were Dan Arn, dean of the college of agricultural sciences; Russell Karow, head of the crop and soil Science Department; and Sabah Randhawa, foundation provost.
The $168,000 donation represents the intent of the Oregon potato industry to contribute a total of $500,000 to the OSU Foundation before 2017.
