OPC presents grower awards

The Oregon Potato Commission (OPC) presented the 2013 Potatoes Goodness Unearthed awards at the Washington/Oregon Potato Conference.

Presenting awards in four categories for best red variety, best yellow variety, best russet variety and best specialty variety was chef Leif Benson, a member of the OPC.

Dan Chin, of Chin Farms, took home two awards. Chin Farms’ AmaRosa was selected as the best red potato variety and their Austrian Crescent was selected as the best specialty variety.

Lane Farms’ Russet Burbank was selected best russet. Rob Lane, of Lane Farms, accepted the award.

Best yellow variety was Cal-Ore Seed’s Autumn Gold. Steve Rajnus, representing Cal-Ore, accepted the award.
