Nonpareil to sell dehy business

Nonpareil Farms of Blackfoot, Idaho has entered into a letter of intent to sell its dehy potato business to Basic American Foods (BAF). The sale will allow Nonpareil to focus on its fresh produce brand. Nonpareil Farms will supply BAF with potatoes for its dehy potato products.

Due diligence is currently underway. BAF and Nonpareil Farms are negotiating various agreements involved in the transaction and anticipate it will take eight to 10 weeks to conclude and finalize the documents to complete the sale.

BAF, with corporate headquarters in Walnut Creek, Calif., has three potato processing plants in Idaho, at Blackfoot, Shelley and Rexburg. It has another plant in Moses Lake, Wash.
