McCain Foods USA will be expanding its frozen french fry operation in Burley, Idaho. The investment is expected to generate more than 180 new jobs in the area with a larger production facility totaling $200 million, according to the state of Idaho.
Initial financing, construction, employment, and the sourcing of local supplies through Idaho potato farmers and vendors is expected to significantly increase the economic impact of McCain’s investment in southern Idaho. Idaho state estimates this impact to be $560 million over the next 20 years, and will include an additional 200 jobs for the duration of the construction project.
Construction is beginning this month and the new plant is expected to be in production by the summer of 2018.
