Maine potato industry fights back against USDA plan to cut potatoes in schools

Maine’s multimillion dollar potato industry is fighting a plan to reduce the amount of spuds in federally-subsidized school lunches. The U.S. Department of Agriculture wants to see kids eating more nutrient-rich, green and leafy vegetables and fewer french fries. So it’s proposing cutting down the amount of starchy vegetables in lunches to one cup a week. Maine Public Broadcasting Network
