Irving selected Maine’s Young Farmer of the Year

Robert Irving of Caribou, Maine has been selected the 2014 Young Farmer of the Year by the Maine Potato Board. He is the son of Steve and Patti Irving.

Irving is the sixth generation of his family to raise potatoes in Aroostook County. His great-great-great-grandfather John Irving began farming in the late 1800s.

Irving farms with his uncles, Scott and Jeff, and is the vice president of Irving Farms as well as logistics coordinator for Irving Farms Marketing and North State Transportation. His father recently retired from the farm.

We’re truly pleased to recognize Robbie as an industry leader. He’s an excellent representative of the future of the Maine potato industry,” Don Flannery, executive director of the Maine Potato Board, said in a press release.

Irving and his wife, Meagan, have two children, 4-year old Carter and 11-month old Evelyn.
