Industry donates more than 200 salad bars

To date 202 salad bars have been donated consisting of 99 industry donations and 103 Potatoes USA matches and purchases. These bars have been placed in Michigan, Colorado, Idaho and other potato producing states as well as in large markets such as Atlanta, Buffalo, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit, Orlando, Sacramento, San Diego and Washington, D.C.

Potatoes USA president Blair Richardson challenged the potato industry to donate salad bars to 300 schools each year. From July 2015 through February, a total of 180 salad bars were donated by the industry and Potatoes USA, formerly the United States Potato Board.

Students in grades K-12 eat over 5 billion school lunches each year, creating opportunities for the potato industry to impact the way they think about potatoes, Pototoes USA said in a news release.

For every salad bar donated by the industry through the Potatoes USA Salad Bar Challenge, the Potatoes USA board will match the industry donation. For more information, email questions to [email protected].
