The Idaho Crop Improvement Association has appointed Alan Westra its new southeast area manager beginning August 1 in Idaho Falls.
Westra’s primary responsibility is management of the Idaho Seed Potato Certification program. Westra will also be responsible for non-potato seed certifications in southeast Idaho including barley, wheat, canola and miscellaneous other crops.
Previously, Westra was the manager of the New York Seed Improvement Project (NYSIP) at Cornell University. He has been affiliated with the NYSIP for over 15 years.
Westra earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Graceland College and a master of science in plant pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
