The National Potato Council’s Potato D.C. Fly-in will be held Feb. 27-March 1 and will bring potato growers and industry leaders from around the nation to Washington, D.C.
During that time they will confer with Congressional legislators, be briefed on federal and international policies by Obama administration decision makers and hear from political insiders on the machinations of the federal government.

Meetings that have been confirmed with USDA Under Secretary Ed Avalos to discuss market access for Mexico; Craig Jagger with the House Agriculture Committee on the budget, deficit and the 2012 Farm Bill; and Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Nutrition and Horticulture, to discuss the 2012 agenda.
Meetings with Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., Rep. Frank Lucas, R-Okla., Rep. Mike Simpson, R-Idaho, and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack are scheduled but have not been confirmed.
NPC is continuing to accept registrations and walk-ins. The price is $395 plus accommodations.
