BASF introduces new fungicide combination for Idaho growers

Idaho potato growers will have a new, convenient and effective way to combat foliar diseases with the recent EPA approval of Cabrio Plus fungicide from BASF Corp. The newly approved combination fungicide helps control early blight, black dot and late blight diseases in potatoes, and comes in a convenient pre-mixed formulation.

Cabrio Plus features two active ingredients that provide excellent disease control and resistance management in one product, according to BASF. The first ingredient, pyraclostrobin, inhibits respiration in the mitochrondria. The second, metiram, disrupts many different cell processes. Overall, the multi-site activity of these two ingredients reduces the risk of resistance development.

Key features of Cabrio Plus include:

· Convenient pre-mixed formulation
· Compatibility in tank mixes
· Convenient pre-mixed formulation
· Excellent suspensibility and coverage due to small particle size
· Easy re-agitation of spray solution when stored overnight

Cabrio Plus is currently available in Idaho, with other states pending approval. The product will be available at Simplot Grower Solutions and Crop Production Services.
