2005 Chip Seminar to be March 2-5

Start planning now for the 2005 Chip Seminar, scheduled for March 2-5 at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in Jacksonville, Fla.

The annual event will bring together the chip industry to discuss current market trends and discuss ways to maximize potato chip sales.

What I really appreciate about the seminar is that every part of the chipping industry is in one room with all their different perspectives,” said Gene Herr, president of Herr Foods.  “How often do you get the chance to talk to breeders, processors, growers and marketers in person at one place?”

Last year more than 120 growers, chip manufacturers and suppliers attended the seminar. The subjects covered are identified by growers and chippers as important to their businesses.  This year’s seminar will be an in-depth discussions of the following subjects:

-Transportation
-Breeding/Variety Trials
-Chips and Foodservice
-Labeling Issues
-Trace Back
-Quality at the Plant
-Issues Update
-New Developments
-Costs of Growing
-Production and Sourcing
-Sales Trends

“”The information provided throughout the seminar in addition to the important networking interaction with growers is a very important supplement in building a ’database’ of information for our businesses,”” said Garn Theobald, Idaho chip grower and repeat Chip Seminar participant.  “”As growers, sometimes we find ourselves wearing blinders when we stay in our own little world.  Opportunities like these become very important in broadening our perspectives and our ways of doing business.””
