Early registration open for Washington policy conference

Early registration is now open for the United Fresh Washington Public Policy Conference, which will be held Sept. 30-Oct. 2. The annual event gives produce industry figures a chance to network and to connect with members of Congress in face-to-face meetings. Other features of the conference include educational sessions, the United Fresh PAC dinner and a meeting with FDA leaders. Registration discounts are available until June 20. Immigration reform advances in Senate

The full Senate is expected to take up immigration reform in June after the Senate Judiciary Committee approved a comprehensive immigration reform bill on a 13-5 vote. The proposed new agriculture worker program survived the committee process intact. The program includes a market-based federal structure to ensure a steady and experienced agricultural labor force.
