Idaho Potato Conference to be Jan. 18-20

The 2005 University of Idaho Potato Conference will be held Jan. 18-20 at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. The conference will feature two days of educational sessions. The Ag Expo will begin Jan. 18 and run through the end of the conference.

Conference seminars for Wednesday, Jan. 19 will include Plant Management, Sugarends, Ranger and Green Digs/Storage of New Varieties, Processing Industry Requirements, Bacterial Ring Rot and Late Blight and Pesticides and Water Quality. Workshops to be held that day are New Varieties: Nitrogen Management/Bulking, Nematodes, Fertility, Seed and Planting Management, Potato Market Situation, Seed Production and Health, Weeds, Entomology, Watering Uniformity, New Variety Display, Precision Ag, Diseased Tuber Display, Managing Your Machinery Costs, Storage Management, Harvest Management, Disease: Necrotic Viruses and Pink Rot, and Solids and Sugars.

Seminars for Thursday, Jan. 20 are "The Future of the Tri-State Varietal Development Program," NPC, "How Price and Disease Risk Relate to Optimal Potato Rotations," Aphids and Pesticide Drift. Workshops for Jan. 20 are Pesticides and Water Quality, Weeds, Precision Ag, Calculating Production Costs, Farm Size and Economic Efficiency and Nematodes.

Spanish-language session also will be offered on both days of the event.
