Spudman 7: Teresa Kuwahara

Teresa (TK) Kuwahara is the international marketing manager for dehydrated potatoes for the United States Potato Board.

What are the best words of advice you’ve received?
I have received all kinds of great advice. Recently, my husband reminded me, “You can’t eat an elephant in one bite! It takes a lot of little bites to get the job done.”

What are your goals for the next 12 months?
Fully and successfully implement all activities under our current dehy export strategy. 10,000 steps a day! Spend more time with family and friends. Volunteer.

What do you do to relax to get away from work?
What’s that? Just kidding. I like to cook, work in our yard/garden, read and fish.

What would you like to be your lasting legacy?
I would like to be a part of a team that is able to impact other people’s lives. For example, helping to get more dehydrated potatoes in the hands of people who are food insecure.

What are the top three things on your bucket list/must-do list?

  • Visit more international destinations (not just the airports) and experience the culture.
  • See Buffett in Tahiti, or any tropical island location.
  • Take a welding class.

What would you be doing if you weren’t with the USPB?
Something with food and traveling. Maybe the next Andrew Zimmerman!

What is one truth you’ve learned about the potato industry?
Every day in this business will always be different, challenging and never dull.
